Australia have won the toss and elected to bat in the Third Test in Ranchi, but the Test was hit by controversy before a ball was even bowled. Just moments ago at the toss of the coin, after Australian captain Steve Smith successfully called tails, Indian captain Virat Kohli accused his Australian counterpart of cheating after Smith turned to look at coach Boof Lehmann to see whether he was mimicking a batting action or bowling action.

Kohli exploded into a fit of rage, threatened to storm off the field, and then asked for a re-toss. The match referee declined Kohli’s request. The ICC have refused to comment on the incident, but were overheard saying “there’s nothing we can do about this childish behaviour, the BCCI have too much power and we’re scared of them”.
