Apparently following their treasured content calendar, albeit a little too keenly, a major newspaper has declared that this weekend’s game between GWS and the Gold Coast Suns is a must-win for the Giants. While this kind of grand statement is normally saved for at least Round 6 or 7, the insatiable appetite for click bait has forced the newspaper’s hand, so they have declared that if GWS lose this Saturday afternoon “it makes their finals chances significantly more difficult”.

Following their shock loss to Adelaide last Sunday, the Giants now host the wound-licking Suns who themselves are fresh from a surprise defeat by Brisbane and facing an equally season-defining game. Tipped by many pundits to be this year’s premiers, the Giants will now have to endure a nervous week in the lead up to facing the Suns.

A loss to the Suns will no doubt spark heavy attention on coach Leon Cameron’s position at the helm. While that would please Nathan Buckley, Giant’s powerbrokers are unlikely to be pleased by the unwanted attention in what was supposed to be their drought breaking premiership season.
